What are the Arts & Sciences?

The Arts and Sciences (A&S) provide a foundation for the SCA.
The Arts & Sciences are all the crafts, skills, and technologies practiced in the time period and cultures that the SCA covers. Without them, we wouldn't know what to wear, what to eat, or how to fight.  Arts & Sciences range from the recipes used for a feast to the armor used in combat, the clothes and costumes we wear to the bardic arts of singing, storytelling, poetry and instrumental pieces.  

The mission for the office of Art and Sciences in the Barony of Sentinels’ Keep:

• To foster the study of period culture and technology, and methods for producing historically accurate artifacts and performances.

• To promote all aspects of the Arts and Sciences with period-inspired creativity, scholarly research or authentic research thorough competitions, displays, teaching or performing, etc.  

The goal of this web page is to inform about upcoming arts and sciences activities and events, showcase individuals, and provide information to further the exploration of life in the Current Middle Ages.
