As most of you know, the heart has been one of my personal symbols for many years so I found this little tidbit of information quite hilarious!

It seems that when the Christian religion rose during the Roman Empire, the church leaders did all they could to stamp out the "pagan" influences of all the previous myths and legends which included some of the earliest known roots of Valentine's Day.  It was difficult for some peoples of that day to communicate because they were not educated and could not write.  Evidently, these former "pagans" discovered a way to proclaim their love in the symbol of the heart.  And this symbol was discovered by someone who had sat down while wet and the mark that was left by the imprint of their rear end formed a heart shape.  This somehow seems to sum up most of my personal beliefs of romance!!!
