I finally did it!

After years of watching the "shighters"* in the park with my niece Maris*, I met Ygrainne who was involved with the SCA and invited me to a meeting. And I knew right away I wanted to be part of it! Of course now I realize that all those years ago, I could have walked over and would have been welcomed warmly...sigh...

I do not have any new and wonderful information to share since I am still in the business of learning...BUT...

I will share what I have been learning and pictures of the great people who have taken me under their wings.

The following is the awarding of my Award of Arms by the then King and Queen of Artemesia, HM Timmer and HM Tianna.

(When my Mom saw these pictures she thought maybe I had joined a cult...I told her it was a cult of History buffs!!!)

* When my niece Maris was young, she could not say the letter 'f' so it would come out as an 'sh' sound.
        She was the one that spotted the fighters in Sacajewa Park and wanted to stop and watch them.
        She eventually gave my Dad a huge sword because they would play "On guard" all the time with sticks.

Here is another fighting pose from a couple of year's ago...think she has heavy fighter potential?
I would call this one 'scarey' lady of the lake aka 'Zombie Paris Hilton' (Is that an oxymoron?)
